Tanzania
FGM/C is a widespread practice in certain regions in Tanzania: the 2004/5 Demographic and Health Survey (DHS), shows an average national prevalence rate of 15%, with significant differences from highly practizing regions, such as Manyara (81%) and Dodoma (68%), to regions where the practice is almost unknown. The 2004-05 DHS data indicates that a significant percentage of women and men in Tanzania oppose the practice: 91% of women and 89% of men who have heard of FGM/C believe it should be discontinued

Central African Republic
According to the most recent Demographic and Health Survey (DHS 2001) FGM/C is a widespread practice in certain regions in Cental African Republic In particular 43% of women have undergone some form of cutting. There is also widespread support for the abandonment of the practice: according to DHS, 61% of women believe the practice should be discontinued.

Burkina Faso
According to the most recent Demographic and Health Survey (DHS 2003) FGM/C is a widespread practice in certain regions in Burkina Faso. In particular 77% of women have undergone some form of cutting. There is also widespread support for the abandonment of the practice: according to DHS, 74% of women believe the practice should be discontinued.

According to the most recent Demographic and Health Survey (DHS 2001) FGM/C is a widespread practice in certain regions in Careroon. In particular 1 % of women aged 15-49 in Cameroon have undergone some form of cutting.

Mauritania
FGM/C is a widespread practice in Mauritania: according to the 2000/01 Demigraphic and Health Survey (DHS), 71% of women have undergone some form of cutting. DHS data indicated there is some support for the elimination of the practice in Mauritania. 23% of women aged 15-49 who have heard of FGM/C believe the practice should be discontinued. Nevertheless, 66% of women aged 15–49 report at least one of their daughters has undergone some form of FGM/C, most of them in early infancy.
