StopFGM/C! is an international campaign to foster the
abandonment of female genital mutilation/cutting by a better involvement of the
media in all their forms: printed, broadcast and web based, with a particular
attention to changes at community level.
The campaign
is coordinated by STREAM, Sharing Technologies and Resources for Engaged and
Active Media, a working group of communication/information officers of the
following organizations: AIDOS/Italy, AFNET/ Tanzania, AMWIK/Kenya,
EMWA/Ethiopia, TAMWA/Tanzania. Previous partners included AMSOPT/Mali,
BAFROW/Gambie, ECWR/Egypt, ESPHP/Egypt, Tostan/Senegal, UNFD/Djibouti, Voix de
femmes/Burkina Faso.
The campaign is at present
supported by UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund, and in the past benefitted
from the support of Unicef, the United Nations Children's Fund, the European
Union, the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs - Directorate General for
Development Cooperation and private donors.
The
campaign is co-ordinated By AIDOS - Italian Association for Women in
Development.
