Pokot leaders declare war on female cut
This is newspaper article dated 19th July 2010 regarding a declaration the Pokot Leaders made at Ortum to end FGM/C and Cattle Rustling. They confirmed that these two issues are plaguing development within their region. This is a milestone for Pokot as last year, it was reported that it had the highest number of girls subjected to FGM/C.

FGM, early marriages land Tarime girls into health trouble
TARIME District in Mara Region (Tanzania) has recorded high number of fistula cases due to early pregnancies and female genital mutilation (FGM), according to various nurses and doctors at Tarime District Hospital. Dr. Kennedy affirmed: "For us to end this problem or to fight against fistula there is need for more education to the communities to change the culture of exposing young girls to early pregnancies and even female genital mutilation".

Iraqi Kurdistan: FGM fatwa positive, but not definitive
A religious edict by the Kurdistan Islamic Scholars Union on female genital mutilation (FGM) sends a clear signal that the practice is not prescribed by Islam, Human Rights Watch reports further on the different points of views but in conclusion recommends the regional Government to support opponents of FGM/C and also calls for development of long term plans to eradicate the practice.
