Switzerland adopted new legislation on FGM
September 17th, 2011. The female genital mutilation of girls and women should be punished, regardless of where they were practiced. This was decided today, the Swiss National Council tacitly align it to the Council of States.

Tambacounda (Senegal) : villages declare their abandonment of female genital mutilation/cutting
Tambacounda (Senegal): 69 villages in the department of Gadiaga and Boundou had declared their commitment to abandon female genital mutilation/cutting and early/forced marriages during a solemn and colourful ceremony in Bakel.

This September our organisation, AkiDwA, a national network of migrant women living in Ireland, will celebrate our tenth anniversary.
